Cogent has a deep commitment to the research and development of precision therapies, but more than that, we are dedicated to listening and learning from people who are living with or caring for loved ones with the diseases we serve. We strive to go beyond our research and clinical trials by providing patients and their families educational resources and information through advocacy partnerships and educational programs.
OUR FOCUS
Systemic Mastocytosis (SM)
Systemic mastocytosis is a rare disorder that causes your body to make too many mast cells. There are two types of systemic mastocytosis: Advanced and Nonadvanced.
Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST)
GIST is a rare cancer affecting the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. In most cases, GISTs arise in the stomach or small intestine, but can form anywhere along the digestive tract.
Patient advocacy & engagement
Cogent’s Patient Advocacy & Engagement team works to amplify the patient voice and serves as a liaison between our company and members of the patient, caregiver and advocacy communities. We strive to help educate and empower people affected by the diseases we serve through partnerships with patient advocates and advocacy groups. We view the patient community as experts in their disease. Our goal is to listen to and learn from the patient and caregiver community to help us make informed decisions about our programs. Our employees regularly participate in community and advocacy events to help increase awareness and support people affected by serious diseases and cancers.

Our guiding principles

- Seek to understand unmet needs by listening and learning from patient advocacy groups, patient advocates, and the patient communities we serve
- Ensure the patient voice is included in all aspects of our business: from drug development through commercialization
- Be transparent in our communications and help educate the community using medically accurate communications and resources that are backed by sound data
